I love this beautiful master bedroom by Dana over at House Tweaking. I love her style overall, and this bedroom she designed is giving me lots of inspiration for one of the bedrooms in our home! Be sure to check out her blog. You won't be disappointed! So, as always, what are some of the great things that make this space work so great?
Dana's color scheme is very cool and calming while being warm and inviting all at the same time. The blueish grey walls make you feel at ease and the gold and brown accents warm up the space. Yellow is one of my favorite go to accent colors and here it adds that pop that I always crave in a neutral space.
I love me some symmetry. It brings balance and stability to a space, which in turn has a calming effect. The matching lamps, nightstands, and artwork frame and balance the bed beautifully. Even the way the nightstands are styled is pretty symmetrical.
Texture & Pattern
I love the texture brought in through the rug and window shade and how they tie together making this space feel even more cohesive. And the striped duvet adds more visual interest.
Design is in the details. All the little details are the crowning touch in any space that make it feel personal and inviting and this room is no exception.
Some of the details I love here are the artwork between the lamp and the night stand. They are the same size but different prints and it just makes a normal often overlooked space special.
The greenery placed in the vases on each night stand adds life to a space. Plants, flowers, and cuttings from your yard are always a good idea to liven up a room.
The bench at the end of the bed is functional and stylish and the sheep skin adds a touch of texture and coziness.
I love how Dana used cord covers to corral the lamp cords which keeps the space looking clean and neat.
And one last thing that you might not think about (I know I wouldn't have) is the horizontal lines of the window and bed that balance this space. Dana says in her original post that she had a curved headboard before, but it didn't look right, so she replaced it with this rectangle one that sits just below the window.
Trial and error are the name of the game, my friends. What about you? What do you love about this space? In addition to the artwork, I'm kind of loving those lamps!
