Man, this room designed by Kristen over at Hunted Interior stops me in my tracks every time. Forget being a teenage boy's room. I wouldn't mind if this was mine! There's so much I love about it. Today, we're going to look at 4 things that are knocking this room out of the park.
I know, I know. I think I've started every single one of these posts talking about the color scheme, but it does play a huge role in a room's design. There are three main colors working together to give this room it's cohesive, warm, cozy, and masculine feel. They are black, white, and brown.
I love the bold and dramatic choice of the black walls and trim. Although this room seems like it might be small, the color works because of the amount of light coming in. It's part of what makes this room feel so cozy and like it would be giving you a great big bear hug every time you walked in.
The white adds one of the other elements I love to highlight in these posts and which we're going to cover next and that is contrast. The white keeps this space feeling crisp and bright, and the brown accents from the wood tones, leather pillow, and fur add that element of warmth that always attracts me to a space.
Like I mentioned already, the contrast of the black and white keeps this space feeling crisp and fresh and not like a dungeon.
One of the many things I love about this room are the different textures. They really help make the space here. For example, the fur throw on the bed and chair, play a huge role in the cozy factor of this room.
The different patterns in the curtains, pillows, and rug all work well together as they are all in the same color scheme and help add visual interest and impact.
Charles Eames said that "The details are not the details. They make the design." This space is a perfect example of that.
First can we talk about that live edge headboard? It is beautifully rustic and you can get the diy for it here.
The lamps attached to the headboard continue the rustic feel with a modern yet antique touch.
My absolute favorite little detail of this room is the hand holding the cord on the nightstand. Little touches like that are what take this room from great to fabulous.
The stack of books with the baseball and glove on top offer a nice little vignette and the leather chair adds a modern touch to the room.
So what about you? What are you're favorite details of this amazing room?
