Weekend Roundup

Something to Eat

Okay, I'm gonna be honest here, I'm actually not a huge fan of Thanksgiving food. There's a lot casseroley dishes that are really heavy and I tend to like my food a little more simple and light. This apple cranberry salad from Creme de la Crumb looks amazing and would make a really nice, fresh side for Thanksgiving dinner. My sister mentioned maybe making something like this today for a Thanksgiving side, and now I can't stop thinking about it!

Something to Read

I follow Anne Sage on Instagram. (You can check out her lovely feed here.) She just came out with a new book that I'm itching to read. Let's just say my Christmas list this year is going to be composed of books. You can purchase Anne's book here.

Something to Watch

I know I'm behind. Like waaaaayyy behind, but I've been spending the week with my nieces who are all seven and under, and I finally got to watch Frozen for the first time. I actually loved it! The beautiful choir music in the film took me back to my college days when I used to sing in a choir and the magic of that, the imagery was beautiful, and there were actually some really good life lessons portrayed. I love that the world wasn't saved by the kiss of a handsome boy, although that never hurts ;) You can take a Play Buzz quiz here to see what Frozen character you are (why are these quizzes so addicting?) Apparently I'm Elsa. According to this quiz I am elegant and graceful, reserved, and very complex. Reserved and complex, yes. But the elegant and graceful part, apparently this quiz hasn't met me yet.

Something to Make

I love this idea for a coffee table out of crates from Anything & Everything blog. The stain she chose is so pretty and I love that you can store books and magazines in it! You can read her tutorial here.

Someone to Follow

I love following Claire Brody through Instagram. Not only is she a fellow Texan, she has an incredible style. I love reading her blog. She sounds like one of the nicest people ever! You can check out her blog here, and visit her Instagram here. This picture is from one of the rooms she just redid for the One Room Challenge. I am loving the color choices. You can see the entire room tour here.

Weekend Roundup

Happy weekend,  friends! If you're here in SC, it is an absolutely beautiful day! Later this afternoon I get to photograph a little boy's puppy party and meet a fellow blogger in our town, and I couldn't be more excited! As always, here's you something to eat/drink, something to read, something to watch, something to make, and someone to follow. What are you up to this weekend? Leave me some comments below! :)

Something to Drink

If you saw yesterday's post, you know that we got to visit the Biltmore last weekend. We also got to sample their wassail mix and it was delicious! Here's a recipe (non-achoholic) that you can make in the slow cooker.

Something to Read

This book is number 1 on my Christmas list. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but I keep hearing rave review, and I Emily's style is very much aligned with my own. )You can purchase your copy here.)

Something to Watch

Guys, this show is like a really good book that you can't put down, and the costumes are out of this world. You can catch it on Netflix, and we're following along on Hulu now as they release them. Can't stop. Won't stop. Oh, and awesome fact. If you were an Anne of Green Gable fan back in the day, Megan Follows, who played in stars in this series. Such a great actress and love seeing her in the role of Catherine de Medici.

Something to Make

I came across this beautiful diy Trumeau mirror when I was reading through some of the One Room Challenges on Linda's blog, Calling it HomeThis beautiful diy is from Kristi over at Making it in the MountainsI'm seriously thinking about making one of these for us. It's so much prettier than just a regular full length mirror. You can see how Kristi made theirs here.

Someone to Follow

Since we're already highlighting an awesome diy by her, I though why not follow her as well. You can follow Kristi and her husband as they redo their fixer upper farmhouse on her blog at Making it in the Mountains and on her Instagram. I can't wait to see the progress she and her hubs make in their home.

Weekend Round Up

It's been a couple of weeks since I did a round up! The last two weekends we were out of town photographing a wedding and fall portraits and got to see some beautiful fall colors up in the Virginia mountains. I missed doing theses round ups, though as they are a lot of fun for me to pull together for you! So without further adieu, here you go!

Something to Eat

Skinny Pumpkin Mug Cake

I'm seriously thinking of trying this today since it's so simple and quick and has the word skinny in it. That means it's healthy, right? (recipe here)

Something to Read

The Decoration of Houses

I've just started reading this gem on home decoration and design by Alexander Stoddard, and I'm loving it. If you love interior styling and decorating and want to learn more, this book is for you. If you like looking at pretty pictures, not so much, but it is a fabulous resource!

Something to Watch

Fixer Upper

I already highlighted Chip and Joanna Gaines' show, Fixer Upper, on the blog earlier this week, but it's so good I have to mention it again. The first season is on Netflix, and if you haven't watched this show, you should. I've learned so much, and it is just a fun show to watch. Even your husband will enjoy this design show. I can't watch it without mine ;)
