Indigo Art

Indigo is all the rage right now. There's not a day goes by that I don't see it pop up in my Instagram feed or Pinterest or the blogs I follow or see someone wearing it when I'm out and about.

I had the privilege of attending a couple of indigo workshops hosted by West Elm in Charlotte and taught by the amazing Catherine Cross of Summer Blues Indigo. (you can visit her site here)

In one of the workshops we worked with dying paper, and I created these 4 pieces. It was so much fun, and I'm in love with them. The natural dye has so much depth to me, and I love how contemporary but classic these feel.

I think I'll hold onto these forever not because they're great works of art by any means, but because they're the first pieces of wall art I ever created for our home and that makes them special to me.

( See Mom, I do have a little bit of sentimentality to me and and don't throw everything away. ;)

Eventually I want to custom mat them to show the whole piece, but for right now I'm happy to have them up in these Ikea frames where I can see them.

I love how they add some color to our dark entry way and add that personal touch that turns every house into a home.

I'm hoping to share a diy soon on this project so stay tuned!
